Doctor Who series showrunner Steven Moffat stated recently in an interview that Doctor Who  will continue for at least another five years.

Speaking with Doctor Who magazine, reported by the U.K.‘s Radio Times,  Moffat discussed long-term plans for the series. “I thought it would last ten years,” he said. “I didn’t think it would last ten years with BBC Worldwide trying to get me in a room to talk about their plan for the next five years!”

“It’s going to do a minimum of 15. I mean, it could do 26!”

Moffat cited the series’ unusually consistent ratings over the decade. “Ten years on, our ratings are pretty much the same. Actually, internationally, bigger.  No show does that!  You’re meant to go down!  Doctor Who just stays.  It’s extraordinary!”

Doctor Who is a licensing juggernaut, with merchandise including games (see “'Doctor Who' Villains Get Their Own Game” and “'Clue: Doctor Who' and 'Monopoly: Doctor Who Villains Edition'”), comics (see “Titan's 'Twelfth Doctor' Series in October”) and an RPG (see “'Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor Sourcebook'”).
