Fuji TV in Japan will begin airing Dragon Ball Super, a new Dragon Ball anime series, in July, according to Comic Natalie via Anime News Network. This will be the first new Dragon Ball anime since Dragon Ball GT aired in 1996 and 1997.
Dragon Ball manga-ka Akira Toriyama is providing story and character concepts for the series. The story will take place after the defeat of Majin Buu, when Earth is once again peaceful.
Dragon Ball remains a top series in the U.S. for Viz (see "Interview with Viz's Kevin Hamric, Part 1"), and Panini has recently revived the TCG (see "'DBZ TCG: Heroes and Villains' Booster").
An anime feature, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F (poster here), will get a limited theatrical release with an English dub this summer.
