Firestorm Series Will Be Written By Gerry Conway
Comic-Con News: On the eve of the San Diego Comic-Con, DC Comics announced eight new six-issue miniseries that will appear in 2016.  Only the writers, many of whom are returning to the characters that they made into fan favorites, have been announced for these miniseries.  The artistic teams and actual dates on the 2016 schedule have not yet been revealed.  DC Entertainment’s SVP Editorial Bob Harras explained that doing this number of miniseries will allow the publisher to “maintain a diversified menu of titles, while testing the waters to see how these new directions (in the miniseries) will be received by fans.  Readers won’t have to wait for their favorite character to “guest” in another title: they get their own book, even if it’s for a limited run.”

The titles reuniting characters with the writers who made them fan favorites include a Raven series by Marv Wolfman, a Firestorm series from Gerry Conway, Katana: Cult of the Kobra by Mike W. Barr, plus Metal Men and Swamp Thing series, both of which will be penned by Len Wein.

Three other miniseries announced today will provide totally new takes on DCU characters.  Amy Chu (Wonder Woman) will write the six-issue Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life series, while Aaron Lopresti will pen a Metamorpho saga, and Keith Giffen will have a chance to get outrageous with Sugar & Spike.
