Comic-Con News: IDW Games has announced a big box Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles scenario-driven adventure board game designed by Kevin Wilson, with input from TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and the current IDW comics creative team.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past is designed by Wilson (Arkham HorrorDescent: Journeys in the Dark) with help from IDW Publishing’s Bobby Curnow and Tom Waltz, The adventure game will include sculpted miniatures, and players will be able to take the roles of their favorite Turtles, or Shredder.  Players will battle through a series of 60 - 90 minute missions, developing their characters and gaining experience and equipment as they create a multi-game story arc.

IDW indicated that there will be overlap between its ongoing comic and the board game "as game previews and exclusive content begin to show up in the back of the hit ongoing series."

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has 30 years of history, and we plan on tapping into all of it with this game," said IDW's Director of Business Development, Jerry Bennington.

"I'm so excited to participate in this game!" TMNT co-creator Eastman said in the announcement.  "Working with IDW on their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics has been amazing, and now to get the chance to go even deeper into the story and have fans play out key moments from the series for themselves is something that's really going to blow people away."

The game will release in early 2016 in both a standard and limited edition format, with the latter featuring art by Eastman.  Specific release date and MSRP were not announced.  IDW Games plans expansions based on comic micro-series and ongoing events, as well as character expansions featuring cast members from the comics are planned.
