New Line Cinema is developing an adaptation of Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso’s 100 Bullets comic series, and has announced actor Tom Hardy as one of the producers, with indications he may star in the film as well.

The Hollywood Reporter  announced the project as New Line’s first move since being given oversight for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo line projects in June, which were previously managed by sister company Warner Bros.  Warner Bros. had plans for a TV adaptation of the series for Showtime back in 2011 (see “'100 Bullets' TV Show”).

Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, The Dark Knight Rises) will produce with Dean Baker as part of their Hardy Son & Baker production company. A script has already been written by Chris Borrelli.

The gritty, 100-issue Vertigo series follows the shadowy Agent Graves, who offers various people an opportunity for vengeance again the person who is responsible for wronging them.  He offers them a handgun, 100 untraceable bullets and information about their enemy.  The seemingly random choices of those who are offered a chance at vengeance are later revealed to be part of a much greater crime saga involving Agent Graves, his associates, and The Trust.
