Rumors about a potential Justice League cartoon series from Warner Bros. Animation that would air on the Cartoon Network have been rife for some time, so it was no surprise when the World’s Finest site republished a tweet from someone at Cartoon Network Canada that appeared to confirm that such a series was in development stating unequivocally: “We will be airing a new Justice League series, but not likely until next fall.”
As word spread over the Internet on Tuesday it quickly reached Cartoon Network U.S., with the result that on Wednesday Cartoon Network Canada sent out a “clarifying” message advising “In regards to your question about Justice League, we wanted to let you know that Cartoon Network Canada cannot confirm any information regarding a potential new Justice League series.”
So should we believe the original confirmation or the denial? With the Justice League featured prominently in Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice that debuts next March, it would certainly make sense for Warner Bros. to follow up with a related cartoon series—and then there is the little matter of a photograph that appeared on Reddit that looks like it was taken at Warner Bros. offices in Burbank. The photo includes posters for a number of new and upcoming Cartoon Network series including Wabbit, Bunnicula, Be Cool Scooby-Do, and The Mike Tyson Mysteries, plus a poster with the letters “JLA” and silhouettes of the key Justice League members (Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Shazam, Zatana, Firestorm, Green Lantern, and Huntress. The big question is, does the “A” refer to Justice League America or as many unconfirmed insider reports maintain, a different final “A” word for the title of the new series, Justice League Action.
(And Then Unconfirmed)
