Marvel previously sent a teaser postcard to retailers, and now confirmed its plans via a promotional retail calendar which lists the event, along with the creative team, on the April page.  Bendis and Marquez are currently the team on Invincible Iron Man (see “Bendis and Marquez on 'Invincible Iron Man'”).

The original Mark Millar-penned Civil War limited series, with art by Steve McNiven,  ran from 2006 – 2007 (see “The N.Y. Times Covers Marvel's 'Civil War'”). No plot details on the new series were announced, though with Iron Man grappling with the new Captain America (Sam Wilson)in the image, the conflict will likely have a different root cause that the original. 

With the new movie loosely based on the original conflict opening in theaters in May, Marvel will likely release the new series around the same time (see “Three 'Captain America: Civil War' Posters”).
