Modiphius Entertainment will release a tabletop miniatures game based on its award-winning Achtung! Cthulhu roleplaying game.  Achtung! Cthulhu:  The Secret War Miniatures Game is scheduled to release in April.

Set in the days of World War II, Achtung! Cthulhu pits the commandos and investigators of England’s “Section M” and America’s “Majestic” against dark Axis forces in league with eldritch horrors from the Lovecraftian Mythos.  The RPG has already spawned a board game and a crossover kit for Heroes of Normandie (see “‘Arkham Horror’ Designer on ‘Achtung!  Cthulhu’”).

The core of the new game, which is based on Dystopian Legions 2.0 from Spartan Games, will be the Achtung!  Cthulhu:  The Secret War Miniature Game rulebook.  This 192 page, full-color, softcover book will include rules for building armies and fielding them in the Lovecraftian battlefields of an alternate World War II.  MSRP is $34.99.

The release will be supported by the Achtung!  Cthulhu Miniatures Game:  Rise of the Black Sun campaign book, which features a battle over the ruins of a monastery located deep in a forest.  MSRP is $29.99.

At Gen Con, Modiphius plans to release a two-player starter set, which will include game rules and miniatures.  This set will be called Achtung!  Cthulhu Miniatures Game:  The Forest of Fear.  MSRP is $99.99.

Miniature sets will also be available for the game.  MSRP has not been announced, but will likely be around $49.99 for a 10 figure set.  Each mini set will also have a code to download a pdf scenario featuring those minis.

In April, the Black Sun, Allied Commando, and Allied Investigator sets, each with 10 models, are scheduled.  May will see the Pathfinder Demonhunters set, Servitors of Nyarlathotep Horde, and the Deep One War Party.

Modiphius plans to release narrative-style “Mission Boxes” later this year, which will feature the forces included in the model kits.

The Secret War Miniatures Game will be different from the Showdown Achtung!  Cthulhu Skirmish Game that was originally announced in September 2013 (see “‘Showdown’ Rules for ‘Achtung!  Cthulhu’”).
