Dynamite Entertainment has hired comic industry veteran Alan Payne as Vice President of Sales & Marketing, the company announced today. Payne comes to Dynamite after leaving IDW Publishing, where he was VP of Sales, last fall (see "IDW Staff Update"). Payne spent around nine years at IDW after moving there from Tokyopop, where he ended as National Accounts Manager, in late 2006 (see "Alan Payne Ankles Tokyopop"). At IDW, he managed sales to comic, online, book, and mass channels. Payne began his career in comics at retailer Dreamhaven Books in Minneapolis in the early 90s, and moved to California to work at Malibu Comics.
"Dynamite has some amazing properties that appeal to a wide variety of fans and we are going to have a lot of fun getting the next round of amazing books into the hands of current and new readers," Payne said of the move.
Dynamite CEO Nick Barrucci welcomed Payne to the fold. “We are proud to have someone of Alan’s reputation and expertise joining the Dynamite team as our Vice President of Sales & Marketing and bringing Dynamite to the next level, taking our diverse library of comics to a larger audience” he said.
