Toy Fair News: Mayfair Games was showing off two new games at New York Toy Fair: Fight for Olympus and Costa Rica.

Fight for Olympus is a two player Lookout Games title deigned by Matthias Cramer (Lancaster, Rococo). Players take the role of a Greek God from Olympus, battling to be master of the pantheon. Players use cards representing soldiers and heroes to fight battles with four different types of cards, each with different costs. Battles are fought on the board, with battles themselves filling three of six slots on the center board.  Two slots on the board are reserved for resource upgrades, and the final spot is for extra cards. The goal is to have a military victory by scoring 7 points on the board, or fill all 6 player slots with one player’s cards.

The game is for 2 players, and plays in 25 - 30 minutes. MSRP will be approximately $28.00.

Costa Rica  is designed by Matthew Dunstan and Brett J. Gilbert (Elysium). The press your luck game casts players as explorers in the jungle of Costa Rica, seeking to collect sets of rare and exotic animals.

Each player has a token that is part of each explorer team on the hexagonal board.  On their turn, they act as lead explorer for one of the teams. As they flip tiles, they discover animals or threats. If they want the animal, they can claim it, or attempt to explore more. A player continues until they or someone in the group decides to collect all the flipped tiles, or the leader encounters two threats. Then their turn ends and they are removed from the expedition.  The goal is to collect the most rare animals for points. There are also bonus points for collecting a set of all six animals.

The game is for 2 - 5 players, and plays in 30 - 40 minutes. MSRP is approximately $40.00. Release is planned for Origins.
