Sony is moving forward on a Venom movie, hiring a new writer to work on a script. Sony started development back in 2013, with a group of writers and producers assigned to work on an expansion of the Spider-Man universe for the studio (see "'Venom,' 'Sinister Six' Movies"). But by late last year, development had reportedly stalled (see “Marvel Movie Licensees Rumor Round-Up").
Now Sony has hired Dante Harper, whose film credits include a rewrite on the excellent Edge of Tomorrow, to write a script, according to Variety. The character appeared in Spider-Man 2, in the first run of Sony’s Spider-Man films.
