AMC has ordered a documentary series from The Walking Dead executive producers Robert Kirkman and David Alpert.

The six-hour series, which is tentatively titled Heroes and Villains: The History of Comic Books, will premiere in 2017, Variety is reporting. Kirkman and Alpert will executive produce the project though their Skybound Entertainment Banner, along with Bryan and Sean Furst.

The hour-long episodes will cover the stories, people and events that transformed the world of comic books over the years. Topics will include untold history behind iconic characters and the pop culture, politics, race, gender and sexuality that influenced their creation.

“At the end of the day I am a comic fan first and foremost,” said Kirkman. “I am a lover of the medium and the stories it enables people to tell. I’m excited to partner with AMC once again to bring the stories of some the most influential people in comics to a television audience.”
