Massive Darkness, a miniature-heavy dungeon crawl board game from CoolMiniOrNot, is scheduled to release to trade in Q2 2017.

Essentially a role-playing game with no gamemaster, Massive Darkness invites one to six players to undertake a series of quests, fighting their way through dungeons full of monsters and evil dwarves, all in the hope of uncovering the secrets of “The Darkness,” an ancient foe long-ago defeated by the “Lightbringers,” and defeating it once again.  Massive Darkness allows players ways to customize their characters both during and between quests, by developing skills and collecting powerful magic items.  The villains, meanwhile, can use that same treasure against the heroes.

Massive Darkness will include 75 plastic miniatures:  6 heroes, 63 enemies, and 6 oversized roaming monsters; 6 plastic hero dashboards, 6 color bases, 12 plastic pegs, 12 custom dice, 9 double-sided game board tiles, 280 cards, 6 pads of class sheets, and 111 tokens.  The game is playable by 1 to 6 players.  MSRP is $120.00.

CMON has launched yet another hugely successful Kickstarter to fund the project, blowing past their funding goal in the first five minutes and well on its way to break a million dollars with 29 days remaining in the campaign.  CMON plans to start shipping backers their copies of the game in April, 2017, with release into the trade following shortly after.
