When asked about the status of Fox’s long-gestating Gambit X-Men spin-off film, producer/writer Simon Kinberg stated that the studio now had “a great script on that,” and was planning to begin shooting the film in the spring of 2017.  The Gambit film, which still has Channing Tatum attached to star as the card-tossing Cajun, was originally scheduled to debut on October 7, 2016, but Fox yanked the film off the schedule in February, long after it was apparent that it wasn’t going to make its October release (see “Gambit Off Movie Schedule, Two Unnamed Marvel Projects Added”).

Kinberg also told The Hashtag Show that Deadpool 2 was set to start filming at the beginning of next year.  So far Fox has yet to announce a release date for Deadpool 2, though a 2018 release makes sense if the film does start production early next year, and Fox has March 2, 2018 reserved for “an unannounced Marvel Movie.”   Given the Q1 success of the first Deadpool film that just might be the date they are targeting.

If the Gambit movie does start production just a few months after Deadpool 2, then Fox’s other “unannounced Marvel Movie” date (June 29, 2018) would make sense for a Gambit release, but little is guaranteed until production actually begins.  Doug Liman is still attached to direct Gambit (see “Geek Movie News Round-Up”) though his participation (and that of Channing Tatum) is subject to the vagaries of scheduling.
