BOOM! Studios is making 10 announcements ahead of New York Comic Con, and we round up the first three here.

KaBOOM!, in cooperation with Australian publisher Gestalt, will publish Tom Taylor and James Brouwer’s all-ages underwater adventure The Deep. The graphic novels were the basis for the Netflix animated series of the same name (see “Confessions of a Comic Book Guy--Return of the Toons”). The series was first published as two original graphic novels, but KaBOOM! will release is as a six-issue miniseries launching in January. A collected edition will release in Fall 2017. The story follows the Nekton family who explore the depths of the oceans in a state-of-the-art submarine. An earthquake off the coast of Greenland leads to reports of monsters, and the Nektons investigate.

BOOM! teased a new ongoing series written by novelist Delilah S. Dawson (Star Wars: The Perfect Weapon, Wake of Vultures) and drawn by Ashley A. Woods (Niobe: She Is Life, Erathune). The series will launch in January, and have a first issue cover drawn by Elsa Charretier (The Unstoppable Wasp).

Archaia will launch Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Giants in December. This follow-up to Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Witches and Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Dragons (see “Archaia & Henson Forge Deal”) will be written and drawn by Conor Nolan. The four issue series will launch on December 7. Giants is a collection of mythic tales inspired by folklore from around the globe. The first tale reimagines the Japanese story “The Peach’s Son” about a giant who is raised by humans, but not accepted by them.
