Greater than Games will release the high-speed trackless space racing game Lazer Ryderz in Q3 2017. The game is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

The retro-cool high-energy trackless racing game blends elements of push your luck, area denial, and strategy game play. Players take the role of one of the four galactic travelers (Galactic Waveryder, Lazer Shark, Super Sheriff, Phantom Cosmonaut) who need to acquire three Power Prizms to charge up and pass on to their next location. Players use the table as a board as they lay out their track to intersect with the Power Prizms. Speed is important, but it’s hard to make turns at high velocity, and players have to start over if they crash into another player’s existing track. The first player to collect three Power Prizms wins.

The box contains 1 initiative tracker, 4 turn order tokens,1 6-sided die, 4 character stands with plastic light speedometer slider, 24 1st-gear lazer pieces (2 straight, 2 soft turns, 2 hard turns per player color), 24 2nd-gear lazer pieces (2 straight, 2 soft turns, 2 hard turns per player color), 24 3rd-gear lazer pieces (2 straight, 2 soft turns, 2 hard turns per player color), 16 4th-gear lazer pieces (2 straight, 2 soft turns per player color), 8 5th-gear lazer pieces (2 straight per player color), 12 character-specific prizm pieces (3 in each color), 4 neutral prizm pieces, 4 organizational trays with full art slipcovers, a rulebook, and a box set slipcase cover. The game is for 2 – 4 players, and plays in 30 – 45 minutes. Tentative MSRP is $29.95.

The Kickstarter campaign has raised $26,927 from 604 backers as of this writing, very close to it’s $30,000 goal. The project will run through November 4.
