The animated adventures of Scrooge McDuck, Donald, Huey, Dewey, and Louie will premiere in the summer of 2017. Disney XD announced plans for the new series in 2015 (see “New 'DuckTales' TV Show”). The group will be joined once again by Webbigail “Webby” Vanderquack, Launchpad McQuack, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, and Magica De Spell. Season 1 will include 21 half-hour episodes and two one-hour specials.

Based on the 1987 Walt Disney series, which was based on characters created by Carl Banks, DuckTales will be executive produced by Matt Youngberg (Ben 10: Omniverse), and co-produced by story editor Francisco Angones (Wander Over Younder). Art direction will be done by Sean Jimenez (Gravity Falls).
