Image Comics announced that Sony has acquired the film rights for Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire’s series A.D.: After Death after a multi-party bidding war.

Josh Bratman (Fright Night, Priest) of Immersive Pictures will partner with Eric Fineman at Columbia Pictures to produce the film. Bratman is also currently developing Lemire and Dustin Nguyen’s series Descender (see “Lemire, Nguyen Comic Sold to Sony”). Snyder and Lemire will Executive Produce.

A.D. is set in a future world where a genetic cure for death has been found. Several years after discovering the cure, the man responsible for ending death begins to question what he did, which sends him on a journey that will make him face the past and his own mortality.

A.D.: After Death launched in November with Book 1 (see “'A.D.: After Death'”). Book 2 of the three-part series will release this month.
