Papercutz has announced a new partnership with Premavision to create comics and graphic novels based on Art Clokey’s Gumby character.

The ongoing Gumby series will launch on July 19, with the first issue debuting at San Diego Comic-Con. Papercutz Associate Managing Editor Jeff Whitman was announced as one of the series writers. The 32-page issues will feature two ten-page stories, with a five-page backup story, allowing multiple creators to create their own adventures staring the “little green ball of clay.”

The series will be collected in graphic novel editions beginning in November 2017. Papercutz Editor in Chief Jim Salicrup also stated in the announcement that Papercutz is in discussions on how they can bring some of the classic material back to print.

Premavision recently announced development plans for a new Gumby television series in partnership with the Jim Henson Company. There are also plans for a feature film.  Dynamite Entertainment announced plans for a 2017 art book in conjunction with the character’s 60th Anniversary (see “Dynamite Nabs Rights to 'Gumby' Art Book”).
