FUNimation Productions, Ltd., announced at the recently concluded Anime Expo that it will release Trinity Blood beginning the summer of 2006.  The anime series, which is currently airing with very strong ratings in Japan, is based on the thirteen novels written by Yoshida Sunao, who died last year.

As described by FUNimation's Jon Baumgardner, Trinity Blood is about how 'It takes a vampire who drinks the blood of other vampires to save the balance of humanity, religion and evil.'  He went on to point out that, while the novels were heavy on action, the anime will also flesh out the world around the action.

FUNimation is currently planning to release the series on six DVDs with four episodes on each, with a choice of English or Japanese dialogue, widescreen, with extras, at a MSRP of $29.98.
