Davis Marketing Services is importing Day2Day’s 1:6th scale Dan Dare Action Figure.  The deluxe 12-inch figure is based on the classic Dan Dare comic strip by Frank Hampson that appeared in the weekly UK comics magazine Eagle in the 1950s and 1960s.  Accessories that come with the deluxe (MSRP $150) cloth-costumed figure include detachable hands, helmet with a clear visor, boots, and a paralyzing pistol. Day2Day is planning to add other Dan Dare figures.  The next figure will be Dan Dare in Military Uniform with Dare’s sidekick Digby a likely subject for a future figure.

Meanwhile a film based on the popular Garth Ennis reboot of Dan Dare for Virgin Comics is currently in development.  Australian heartthrob Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans) is involved in the project and will likely star as “The Pilot of the Future” in a Dan Dare film.  Worthington confirmed his interest in the project to MTV and specifically praised the Ennis reboot.

The Day2Day Dan Dare Action Figure has been listed in the July Previews and will ship to retailers this summer.
