The Topps Company and Nelvana Enterprises are partnering to develop the new boys action property Mysticons for boys 6-11. Twenty-six 22-minute animated episodes will be produced by Nelvana.
The series will be written by Sean Jara, who’s worked on a variety of other kids series, including Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5, The League of Super Evil, Naturally Sadie, and RedaKai.
The story follows four suburban kids who transform into warriors fighting fire-breathing dragons, evil knights and orcs led by three evil warlords trying to destroy mankind after discovering a mystical tome.
Gameplay will be incorporated into the series, indicating that Topps will probably be producing games based on the property. "Leveraging the Topps brand will enable us to build game play into the DNA of the series," Nelvana parent Corus president Doug Murphy said.
The new show is being pitched at MIPTV.
