Modiphius Entertainment announced AirFix Battles: The Introductory Wargame for April 2016 release.

The World War II Normandy battle setting is designed as a step-by-step board game-based introduction to wargaming. The set includes die cut counters to represent scenery, objectives, tanks, vehicles, guns and infantry; though the game is completely compatible with existing Airfix model figures and vehicles.  Players can set up a battle using the instructions, or move on to the Mission book for more advanced play.  There is a Force Deck which represents a player’s army, and a Command Deck used to move and make different forces attack. A typical mission lasts 30-60 minutes.

The box contains 2 double-sided maps of Normandy territory, 2 sheets of die-cut counters, a 16-page rulebook with introductory rules, a 16-page mission book with narrative rules, a 54-card Force Deck, a 54-card Command Deck, and 5 six-sided dice. MSRP will be approximately $45.00.

The Airfix Battles Force Deck and Command Deck double pack will also be available as a separate purchase for more advanced players who wish to play the game without the introductory components.  Both decks consist of 54 cards. MSRP is approximately $25.00.  Modiphius plans to release future Force Decks to support the game in the future.

Modiphius will be adding the Airfix Battles Collector’s Edition rulebook, which features new rules to expand the game and also move the battles from the board to wargames terrain with measured movements (cm and inches) instead of squares. The book will arrive in Summer 2016, and will have an MSRP of approximately $45.00.
