The basis for the graphic novel are tapes of a marathon 108-day interrogation of Ridgway by Detective Jensen that took place away from the county jail and during which Ridgway confessed to the Green River killings. Ridgway, who has an IQ of just 82, was abused by a domineering mother, but the motives for his multiple murders remained obscure. But murder was truly "his business," he has confessed to more murders (over 90) than any other American serial killer. According to the Seattle Times, Jeff Jensen, who is a reporter for Entertainment Weekly, hopes to use the tapes of his father’s interrogation of the killer to provide new insights into the riddle of Jensen’s sociopathic behavior.
