The campaign gathered a total of $2,359,260 worth of pledges from 2,719 backers ($867.70/backer average). That exceeded both the Game Tiles campaign from 2013 and Dwarvenite Game Tiles campaign from 2014, both in terms of total dollars and dollars per backer. It did not, however, exceed either of those earlier campaigns in total number of backers.
The City Builder System features a collection of fully-modular medieval building components, all in 25mm scale. Building components include exterior walls, roofs, windows, and doors, as well as interior floors, and stairs. Accessories and decorative elements like balconies, chimneys, and ladders can also be added to the set.
The components are manufactured in “Dwarvenite,” Dwarven Forge’s own proprietary material that is designed to withstand rough handling (see “‘Caverns’ Kickstarter Tops $2 Million”). The components are available fully hand-painted, or unpainted.
Dwarven Forge plans to ship the product to its Kickstarter backers in January 2016. Dwarven Forge’s co-owner Jay Zibelman has confirmed that a trade release is planned for early 2016, following backer fulfillment.
The inclusion of the City Builder System into the Kickstarter top ten raises the bar by a whopping $361,886, pushing Ghostbusters: The Board Game off the list (see “Top 10 Tabletop Game Kickstarters”).
