Driven by Star Wars and the "All New All Different" Marvel relaunches, there were an unprecedented (at least in recent memory) 14 titles with direct market sales over 100,000 copies in October, according to information released by Diamond Comic Distributors. Two titles, Invincible Iron Man and Amazing Spider-Man, topped 200,000, with two more, Spider-Gwen and Secret Wars, over 190,000.
Marvel took 18 of the top 20 slots, with DC’s Batman and Justice League the only exceptions (see “Top 300 Comics – October 2015”).
Star Wars titles took seven of the top 20 slots, with two months still to go before the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Star Wars was also a force on the graphic novel charts, with two graphic novel titles selling over 10,000 copies in comic stores in October (see “Top 300 Graphic Novels – October 2015”). The first volume of the core Star Wars title sold over 21,000 copies to comic stores, likely just the beginning of long-term sales for the title.
Bitch Planet Vol. 1 TP from Image Comics did very well, selling nearly 10,000 copies in October.
