AMC has set the premiere of The Preacher after the mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead at 10 PM ET/PT May 22.

The new supernatural comedy-drama is based on the popular '90s comic book franchise from Garth Ennis (Hellblazer, Punisher) and Steve Dillon (Judge Dredd, Punisher). The new AMC show is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television; it was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (This is the End, Superbad).

The series follows Texas preacher Jesse Custer who is infused with supernatural forces of heaven and hell. Jesse and two others find themselves torn between the powers of gods and angels, devils and demons, and dangerous mortals as well. It stars Dominic Cooper (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Captain America: The First Avenger) as Jesse, and Joseph Gilgun (Misfits) and Ruth Negga (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) as the vagabond Cassidy and ex-girlfriend Tulip, respectively.

A new Preacher collection, Absolute Preacher, comes out from DC in July, shortly after the premiere (see "DC Spring Collections Round-Up").
