Coal Baron was designed by Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling (Porta Nigra, Tikal, Torres) and was released in the U.S. in 2013 by R&R Games (see “'Coal Baron'”). Kramer and Kiesling also designed this card game version.
Essen, Germany was the center for coal mining in Europe at the turn of the 20th Century. Players take the role of coal mine owners, who must extract coal from pits, load it on wagon trains, and send it to market.
The box includes almost 240 cards. The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in 50 -80 minutes. MSRP is $39.95.
