Emet Comics, an independent comic publisher focusing on content produced by female creators, has made the leap into direct market sales with its first listings in Diamond's Previews catalog.

Emet is offering two collections for release on November 1: Finding Molly and Fresh Romance Vol. 2.

Finding Molly is written by Justine Prado and drawn by Jen St-Onge. Art school grad Molly is stuck in the suburbs, living with her parents. When she takes a cat-sitting job, she finds herself thrust into the world of cat portraiture and cat sitting. The 160-page, full color graphic novel will release on November 1. MSRP is $24.99.

Fresh Romance Vol 2 is written by Sally Jane Thompson and others, and drawn by Thompson and Sarah Winifred Seale, with a cover by Kevin Wada. This second volume of the critically-acclaimed romance anthology includes fresh stories about interracial and LGBTQ relationships. The 200-page, full color graphic novel has an MSRP of $24.99 and will release on November 1.

Emet acquired Fresh Romance from Rosy Publishing in 2016 when founder Janelle Asselin was forced to shut down. The first edition of Fresh Romance was nominated for a Dwayne McDuffie Diversity Award and a Harvey Award. The print edition of the first volume was published by Oni Press. Emet funded the publication of volume 2 with a Kickstarter this spring.

ICv2 profiled Emet Comics and spoke with its founder Maytal Giboa in 2015 (see “New Comics Publisher Emet”). We covered Emet again when Papercutz picked up Melissa Jan Osborne and Veronica Fish’s Emet Comics series The Wendy Project to publish under its YA Super Genius imprint earlier this year (see “Papercutz Collects 'The Wendy Project'”).

The publisher has picked up a literary agent; the Hill Nadel agency is now representing the company's properties.
