Howard took over the project after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie) were fired over clashes with long-time Star Wars writer Lawrence Kasdan (see “Directors Fired From Han Solo Film and “Ron Howard Takes Reins of Han Solo Film”). The film about the early days of the scruffy-looking nerf herder is slated to be in theaters on May 25, 2018 (see "Best in Shows – Q2 2018").

As the standalone Han Solo film wraps production, director Ron Howard took to Twitter to announce the name of the film. With Chewbacca’s help, Howard revealed that the film will be called Solo: A Star Wars Story.
