River Horse Games has announced plans to produce a new licensed board game based on the classic action movie Highlander.  The company plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project in January.

The company has released few details about Highlander:  The Board Game, other than announcing that it is based on the 1986 film staring Christopher Lambert.  The game will include images from the film as well as miniatures based on the characters, including, of course, Connor MacLeod himself.

River Horse is no stranger to games based on iconic films, with its successful Labyrinth:  The Board Game recently spawning a new expansion (see “‘Labyrinth:  The Board Game’ Adds Oversize Deluxe Pieces”) and plans to release a game based on The Dark Crystal early next year (see “Another Jim Henson Classic Adapted Into Board Game”).

Highlander:  The Board Game won’t be the only new title inspired by the film releasing next year, with B&B Games Studio releasing its card game Highlander:  The Duel in February (see “Kickstarter Watch: ‘Highlander,’ ‘Reanimator,’ and ‘Triplanetary’”).
