New forces are making their way into Games Workshop’s fantasy world with the release of a new faction for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar and two new warbands for Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire, all releasing on April 21.
Emerging from the depths of the sea, the Idoneth Deepkin are a race of underwater-dwelling aelves who raid the surface world to harvest the souls of their victims, as stolen souls are essential to the race’s survival.
The new faction will be presented in the 136-page hardcover Order Battletom: Idoneth Deepkin. The book describes the history of the Idoneth Deepkin, their struggle for survival, their strongholds and submerged cities, and their tactics and strategy in war. Complete rules for all current Idoneth Deepkin models are included, with 14 Warscrolls, new Allegiance Abilities, Lore, Battalions and Battleplans. A section on modeling the army with illustrations of professionally painted miniatures rounds out the tome. MSRP is $40.00.
Among the first wave of Idoneth Deepkin miniatures will be the backbone of their army: Namarti Thralls. Elegant and lithe, these aelves fight with a variety of two-handed weapons and wear light armor. The Namarti Thralls kit offers 10 multi-part customizable models with a variety of weapons and an icon one warrior may carry. MSRP is $50.
To support the troops, commanders can recruit an Eidolon of Mathlann. This oversized model depicts an ancestral spirit given form as a spirit of vengeance, able to unleash the power of the sea against its foes. This kit can be used to build either of two different versions of the model: The “Aspect of the Storm” or the “Aspect of the Sea.” MSRP is $110.00.
Fans of the more tactically-minded Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire board game will have two new warbands to choose from, one representing the forces of Chaos and one drawn from the ranks of the Stormcast Eternals. Each set is MSRP $30.00.
The Magore’s Fiends features a trio of chaos-worshipping Blood Warriors accompanies by a horrific Flesh Hound, all cast in red plastic. The set also includes 60 cards, including 31 universal cards that can be used with any faction.
The Farstriders comes with three crossbow-wielding Stormcast Eternals Vanguard-Hunters, cast in blue plastic. A deck of 60 cards completes this set as well, again with 31 universal cards for any faction to use.
The new Shadespire warbands were part of a host of announcements from Games Workshop at the GAMA Trade Show (see “A New Edition of ‘Kill Team,’ Plus New ‘Underworlds’ Warbands, ‘Necromunda’ Faction, ‘Blood Bowl’ Team”).
