Warner Bros. Animation is kicking off a new short-form content program. Looney Tunes Cartoons embraces the spirit of the original theatrical shorts, with the animation studio committing to 1,000 minutes of shorts per season for distribution across digital, mobile, and broadcast platforms. The series kicks off in 2019.
The series is cartoonist-driven, reflecting the personality and style of the various animators who will work on the cartoons. The one to six-minute pieces star classic Looney Tunes characters and will feature veteran Looney Tunes voice cast members, including Eric Bauza, Jeff Bergman, and Bob Bergen. The series is executive produced by Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) and Peter Browngardt (Uncle Grandpa).
The Looney Tunes, which debuted in 1930, remain enduringly popular. DC has had a series of successful crossovers featuring Looney Tunes characters (see "DC Goes 'Looney Tunes'"), and has a new run planned for summer (see "DC Goes 'Looney Tunes' Again").
