Skybound founder and chair Robert Kirkman, CEO David Alpert, and Managing Partner Jon Goldman will join Jacobs on the board of Skybound Galactic. The venture should help solidify Skybound’s role as a multimedia empire. “Skybound Galactic will be our first chance at owning, or co-owning, our shows,” said Jacobs. “We are hoping we get a chance to make a lot of them, and hoping that by providing financing as well as great projects, we can help make the kind of shows that we all love.”
Several adaptations are already in development under Skybound Galactic, including Kirkman’s Thief of Thieves, with Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard (Warrior) adapting the series and Assaf Bernstein (Fauda) directing, as well as Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson’s Image Comics series Nailbiter, with Scott Kosar (Bates Motel) adapting and Oz Perkins (I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House) directing. At one point in time, AMC had designs on Thief of Thieves (see “AMC Developing A Second Series With Kirkman”), but Kirkman has since parted ways with the network (see “Robert Kirkman Leaves AMC”).
Skybound Galactic also has a first-look deal with Top Cow, with adaptations of The Darkness and Think Tank underway. Top Cow’s Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins will serve as executive producers for series developed under the deal. The Darkness, which was created by Silvestri, Garth Ennis, and David Wohl in 1996, is returning to comics in the coming months (see “'The Darkness' Falls Again”).
