DC unveiled plans for a variety of special events to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Batman, including TV and film engagements, live events, and a special Batman Day salute with Bat-Signals lighting up the sky in major cities worldwide. Here are some highlights.

Festivities will kick of at SXSW in Austin, Texas with fan experiences, merchandise, and a special releasing of 1.5 million bats over Austin’s Congress Bridge on March 15.

Detective Comics #1000 will release in comic stores on March 27 (see “'Detective Comics' Issue 1000 Brings Out the Stars”). A special Detective Comics: 80 Years of Batman The Deluxe Edition collection will also be available in March (see “Celebrate 80 Years of Batman with Two Anniversary Offerings”).

Batman will partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to celebrate kids, teens and youth development professionals standing for positive change in the communities during National Boys & Girls Clubs Week in April.

On Batman Day, September 21, the Bat-Signal will be lit in major cities worldwide at fan celebrations, which will include a series of 5K and 10K runs in select locations.

In August, families can celebrate Batman at multiple Six Flags in North America in August with extended hours and exclusive Batman-themed experiences and merchandise. Other Warner Bros. theme parks across the globe will also host Batman 80th Anniversary events.

Otter media brands Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, VRV and Fullscreen will host a variety of programming and social campaigns amplifying the celebration. Television partners worldwide will also host Batman programming marathons in march and September.

Warner Brothers and DC are partnering with retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Walmart, GameStop and more for new Batman products.  Current global partners including LEGO, Mattel and Funko will release exclusive Batman 80th Anniversary products throughout the year.
