Disney and Target are launching a multi-faceted retail collaboration, with Disney stores in Target locations, a Disney online presence at Target.com, and a Target store on Disney property, the companies announced.
The largest element of the collaboration, the Disney "shop-in-shop" stores in Target locations, will launch with 25 locations on October 4, Triple Force Friday (see "’Star Wars’ Triples the Force in Product Launch Event"), and also the release date for Frozen 2 merch. Another 40 Disney "shop-in-shops" will open by October 2020.
Each Disney store, with an average of 750 square feet, will offer around 450 SKUs, including over 100 items exclusive to Disney store locations. Assortments will include collectible merch such as Disney Animators Collection dolls, clothing, and accessories. Prices range from $2 to $200, with "many items under $20."
Experiential features in the Disney stores at Target will include music, interactive displays, photo opportunities, and a seating area where families can watch Disney movie clips and Park events.
Normal features of Target shopping, including a 5% discount for purchases made with the Target REDcard and same-day pick-up, same-day delivery, and free two-day shipping, will extend to the Disney stores. The Target online store will launch a Disney area with the brick-and-mortar launch, and a store locator for Disney stores.
And in one element of reciprocity, Disney is welcoming a Target location to Flamingo Crossings Town Center, on Disney property near Walt Disney World Resort, in 2021.
