The fourth season of the HBO Max animated show Young Justice will have a comics sequel: The six-issue limited series Young Justice: Targets, will continue the story of Young Justice: Phantoms, which is currently streaming on HBO Max. The new miniseries will be written by Young Justice showrunner Greg Weisman with art by the storyboard artist for the series, Christopher Jones. The series will be digital-first, with the first issue debuting on the DC Universe platform on July 14 and the print edition available in comic shops on July 26. The first issue will have a cover by Jones, a variant cover by Megan Hetrick, and a 1:25 variant by Travis Mercer; the MSRP will be $3.99 for the main cover, $4.99 for the card stock variants.

The first two seasons of Young Justice ran on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2013, when the series was canceled. Warner Brothers started production on the third season in 2016 (see “‘Young Justice’ Returns”), and that season ran on the DC Universe digital platform in 2019, moving to HBO Max in 2020, when DC Universe stopped carrying video content (see “DC Universe Drops Video Content, Shifts to Comics Only”). DC spun off a number of comics from the first two seasons, but this new limited series will be the first new tie-in comics since 2013 (although DC also publishes several unrelated Young Justice series).
