BOOM! Studios has announced it will publish Hollow, an original graphic novel co-written by former BOOM! Studios Senior Editor and Lumberjanes co-creator Shannon Watters. The other members of the creative team are co-writer Branden Boyer-White, artist Berenice Nelle, and cover artist Naomi Franquez. 

Hollow is a modern spin on Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, with city girl Isabel “Izzy” Crane teaming up with the descendants of the original characters (as well as some new ones) to solve the mystery of the Headless Horseman, who has mysteriously reappeared and who threatens the family of Izzy’s new crush, Vicky Van Tassel. BOOM! will publish the 176-page graphic novel on September 28 under its BOOM! Box imprint as both a hardcover with an MSRP of $24.99 and a paperback with an MSRP of $19.99.

During her time at BOOM!, Watters helped build the BOOM! Box imprint into a solid line of LGBTQ+ YA comics and graphic novels, acquiring such titles as Goldie Vance, Giant Days, and Fence. She left last year to pursue her own writing (see “Watters Out at BOOM!”).
