This new card game was designed by Hjalmar Hach and Lorenzo Silva who were behind such games as the Railroad Ink series (see "'Railroad Ink'") and The King's Dilemma (see "'Spiel des Jahres' Jury Announces 2020 Nominees"). In The Great Split, players take on the roles of luxury hoarders at a gala trying to swap and buy precious items. Players start each round by splitting up their cards into two groups, and passing their Wallet to player on the left, who then passes a group of cards back to them. As gameplay continues, players build up their Collection in an effort gain prestige points and maintain balance of the items in their collection.

The Great Split is for two to seven players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 45 minutes.
