Created by Marv Wolfman and Dave Cockrum, Black Cat was originally intended to be a villain in Spider-Woman, but he brought her to The Amazing Spider-Man when he moved to that series. She debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #194, dated July 1979, in a story drawn by Keith Pollard.

MacKay’s Mary Jane & Black Cat, a five-issue limited series with art by Marvel first-timer Vincenzo Carratu, will launch in December (see “Mary Jane and Black Cat Team Up for Limited Series”) and will tie in with the Dark Web crossover event.
