Not surprisingly, one was the first seven volumes of The Baby-Sitters Club, and the other was the first seven of Dog Man. It is mildly surprising that the Baby-Sitters Club box set placed higher on the chart, given that the individual titles tend not to linger more than a few months, while Pilkey’s stay in the top 20 month after month.
Indeed, Pilkey had 14 titles in the December top 20, including Cat Kid Comic Club: Collaborations, released at the end of November, topping the chart. The box set did bump one single Dog Man volume out of the top 20, however.
The two non-Pilkey titles on the November chart (see "November 2022 NPD BookScan – Top 20 Kids Graphic Novels") were back in December. Sweet Valley Twins: Best Friends made the chart for a second month, and John Patrick Green’s InvestiGators: Heist and Seek was back for the fourth month, the first time a volume of this series has stayed on the chart for that long.
