For the first time in three months, all 13 Pilkey books that are currently in print are on the chart: 10 Dog Man and 3 Cat Kid Comic Club titles. Also for the first time in three months, Graphix has 18 books in the Top 20. That said, there are two outliers worth noting. One is John Patrick Green’s InvestiGators: Heist and Seek, on the chart for an unprecedented third month. The other is Sweet Valley Twins: Best Friends, Nicole Andelfinger and Claudia Aguirre’s adaptation of the first volume of the 1980s series (see "‘Sweet Valley Twins’ Go to Random House Graphic"), debuting at number 12.
Both titles are firmly within the genres established by Graphix, funny animals and school drama, but each has a slightly different vibe of its own, balancing the familiar and the new.
Pilkey’s next book, Cat Kid Comic Club: Collaborations, was published on November 29 so we can expect to see that on next month’s chart (see "New ‘Cat Kid Comic Club’ GN Due Out in November").
