Dark Horse Comics will release new editions of the manga series Trigun and Trigun Maximum in a deluxe hardcover edition with a larger-than-usual 7” x 10” trim size.  The series, which was inspired by American Westerns, follows the adventures of Vash the Stampede as he tries to elude a horde of bounty hunters anxious to collect the high price on his head.

Trigun, which was originally published as two volumes, will be complete in a single 672-page volume and will be released in bookstores on December 5, 2023, and in comic shops on December 6, with an MSRP of $49.99.

Volume 1 of Trigun Maximum will be published on April 2, 2024 in bookstores and April 3, 2024 in comic shops and will also have a $49.99 MSRP.  This will be the first of five volumes.

Trigun was originally serialized in 1995-97 in the Japanese magazine Monthly Shonen Captain and collected in three volumes.  When that magazine ceased publication, the series moved to Young King OURs, where it was retitled Trigun Maximum; the original Trigun was also republished as two volumes, the format used by Dark Horse when it first brought the series to English-language readers in 2003 (see “Trigun Manga Sells Out in a Flash”). After the success of the initial series, Dark Horse licensed Trigun Maximum in 2004 (see “Dark Horse & Digital Manga Prep Trigun Maximum”).  Dark Horse later published both series in paperback omnibus format, with Trigun complete in one volume and Trigun Maximum stretching to five. Dark Horse’s Deluxe Editions of Kentaro Miura’s Berserk have been best-sellers (see “Most Efficient Comic Store Manga Properties – Full Year 2022”).

The new Trigun Stampede anime began running on Crunchyroll in early 2023 (see “Crunchyroll Anime Announcements”).
