It's been a smokin' hot summer for showbiz, thus far. Time for a round-up!
Disney+ released the "Begin" trailer for Star Wars: Ahsoka (see below). The new trailer once again teases Grand Admiral Thrawn's (see "'Star Wars: Heir to the Empire #1'") return to the Star Wars Universe as canon. This show, starring Rosario Dawson, will hit streaming on August 23, 2023.
Disney Pixar revealed the official trailer for a new animated feature, Elemental (see below). The movie takes moviegoers on a trip to Element City, where beings made of air, earth, wind, and fire all interact. It will hit theaters on June 16, 2023 (see "Best in Shows -- 2023").
Amazon Prime released the official trailer for Good Omens Season 2 (see below). The new season weaves a plotline where the Archangel Gabriel has headed to Earth and it's up to Aziraphale and Crowley are tasked with finding out why. The new season streams on July 28, 2023. Renegade Game Studios recently released a Good Omens game, which hit retail right in time for new season of the show (see "'Good Omens: An Ineffable Game'").
Marvel Studios is rolling out its new documentary on Disney+ about the life of Stan Lee, which was first announced back in January 2023 (see "Marvel Plans Stan Lee Documentary"). The Stan Lee documentary essentially tells Lee's origin story as a comics creator (see trailer below). This documentary will begin streaming on June 16, 2023.
Studio Ghibli will release How Do You Live? in Japan on July 14, 2023, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This final Hayao Miyazaki movie was first announced back in 2022 (see "Miyazaki Movie"), and despite not having a trailer or promotional materials of any kind available to the public, it is one of the most highly anticipated movies in Japan of the year. Ghibli has described this feature as a grand fantasy inspired by Genzaburo Yoshino's 1937 novel of the same name.
