Showbiz news slowed down over the holidays, but we round up the big news here.

Avatar: The Way of Water took in $86.3 million at the domestic box office over the four-day New Year’s weekend, its third in theaters, according to Variety.  Over the normal three-day weekend, the film took in $66.8 million, a 4% increase from its second weekend (see "’Avatar’ Triumphs Over Weather").  The James Cameron sequel has now grossed $444.4 million in North America and around $1.4 billion worldwide.

BBC has released a teaser (below) for the 60th Anniversary Doctor Who Specials planned for late this year.  In the three Specials, new episodes with Russell T. Davies as showrunner, Tenth Doctor David Tennant will return as the Fourteenth Doctor in bridge content to the Fifteenth Doctor (see “Doctor Who to Disney+").

Marvel is planning a documentary on Stan Lee, who led the company through the period in which its universe was created, for release on Disney+ in 2023, the company announced via video (video below).  The announcement was made on what would have been Lee’s 100th birthday, on December 28.
