Former Black Widow Yelena Belova, now the White Widow, will get her first solo series with her new identity: Marvel Comics will launch the four-issue miniseries White Widow, by writer Sarah Gailey and artist Alessandro Miracolo, on November 1, 2023, with a cover by David Marquez.
Belova was introduced in 1998 in Marvel Knights: Wave 2 Sketchbook and became the second Black Widow in Marvel comics, after Natasha Romanoff. The character got a boost from the Marvel movies Black Widow and Hawkeye, in which the part was played by Florence Pugh (see “Yelena Belova in ‘Hawkeye’”).
Gailey, the writer of Eat the Rich, made their Marvel debut in this year’s Marvel Pride anthology with a Black Cat story (see “Marvel’s 2023 Pride Anthology”). Miracolo is a Marvel artist whose recent work includes X-Men Annual #1 (see “Preview: Agatha Harkness’ ‘Contest of Chaos’ Annuals Covers”).
