Upper Deck released an official statement in response to Ravensburger's motion to dismiss the company's lawsuit over the Disney Lorcana TCG. Upper Deck filed the lawsuit against designer Ryan Miller and Ravensburger in June 2023 claiming that Miller breached his work-for-hire agreement with Upper Deck and Ravensburger used the materials from his work on Rush of Ikorr to help create Disney Lorcana TCG (see "Upper Deck Sues").

The motion to dismiss was filed by Ravensburger on July 13, 2023 (see "Motion to Dismiss Upper Deck Lawsuit"). This motion essentially stated that the court this lawsuit was filed in lacked the jurisdiction to rule on the complaint, and Ravensburger's Legal Advisor Brian Lewis asserted that the lawsuit was more of a "PR stunt than a genuine legal dispute."  Upper Deck's official response by President Jason Masherah to the motion was as follows:

"Ravensburger’s attempted dismissal fails to address Upper Deck’s merited lawsuit to protect Upper Deck’s intellectual property.  This is a strategic deflection of our core allegations.  We will continue to prosecute this case to enforce our rights and to ensure fair play within the gaming community."

This motion will be ruled on August 14, 2023, after Disney Lorcana's launch at Gen Con on August 5-9, 2023.
