Penelop Bagieu, who won a 2019 Eisner Award for Brazen: Rebel Ladies Who Rocked the World (see “Preview”) and a 2018 Harvey Award for California Dreamin’: Cass Elliot Before the Mamas & the Papas (see “Mama Cass Gets Graphic Biography”), is back with her first autobiographical graphic novel, Layers: A Memoir, to be published by First Second Books on September 19, 2023. Bagieu dug into her own diaries, which she kept during her childhood and adolescence, for material for 15 short stories about her earlier life.
MSRP for the 144-page hardcover, rated for readers 14 and up, will be $19.99.
Bagieu is also the creator of Exquisite Corpse (see “Review: ‘Exquisite Corpse’ HC”).
