Dynamite Entertainment has signed with STUDIOCANAL S.A.S. for the comics license to the dystopic future world of The Terminator, the companies announced.  The first film, a blockbuster directed by James Cameron, was originally released in 1984; this is the 40th anniversary of the property.

Dynamite has previously published comics tied to the property from 2007 through 2011 (see "Dynamite Lands ‘Terminator 2’"), and Terminator comics have been published by a raft of other publishers, including Dark Horse Comics, which held the license the longest, Marvel Comics, NOW Comics, Malibu, Beckett, and most recently, IDW Publishing, which released a Transformers/Terminator crossover in 2021 (see "Top Graphic Novels – 2021").  The most recent run of Dark Horse titles ended with the Terminator: Sector War collection, published in 2019.

Dynamite plans both new stories and collections of previously published material.

The most recent media release was the poorly received Terminator: Dark Fate in 2019. Netflix has an anime based on the property in the pipe (see "’Terminator’ Anime").

Dynamite has been expanding its portfolio of licensed comics, most recently with a group of animation characters from Warner Bros. (see "Dynamite Licenses Animated Series").
