Mike Baron’s Kickstarter campaign for his original graphic novel Nexus: Scourge, includes both a retailer tier and a tier that allows pledgers to buy one book for themselves and one to send to the troops.
Nexus: Scourge was originally slated to be published in March 2024, but after pandemic-related delays, Baron decided to publish it himself. The Kickstarter campaign will end on June 7, 2024, and the books are expected to be delivered in July. The campaign has far exceeded its initial goal of $500, with over $21,000 in pledges from 431 backers as of this writing.
The Kickstarter includes a retailer bundle of five copies of the graphic novel for $75, a 40% discount from the MSRP, and a $50 “Nexus for the Troops!” tier which allows the pledger to get a print and a digital copy of Nexus: Scourge for themselves and send another one to ComicBooks for Troops to be distributed to people in the military.
ComicBooks for Troops (CB4T) is the sister organization to ComicBooks for Kids (CB4K), which provides comics to children in hospitals and cancer centers. In 2023, CB4T donated over 125,000 comics to the troops (see “ComicBooks for Troops Event to Be Held Veterans Day Weekend”). Both charities are 501(c)3 organizations.
